World Hypoparathyroidism Day
A global day of awareness for the millions living with hypoparathyroidism. Together, we raise our voices. Together, we are a movement.
What is Hypoparathyroidism?
Hypoparathyroidism (hypopara) is a rare endocrine condition where the parathyroid glands produce insufficient parathyroid hormone (PTH). This leads to dangerously low calcium and high phosphorus levels in the blood, causing debilitating symptoms that affect every aspect of daily life.
Symptoms include severe muscle cramps, tingling and numbness, extreme fatigue, brain fog, seizures, cardiac complications, kidney damage, and much more. Many patients describe living with hypopara as an invisible illness — you look fine on the outside while battling a storm on the inside.
World Hypoparathyroidism Day on June 1st is our chance to shine a light on this condition, educate the public, support patients and caregivers, and push for better treatments and understanding.
